Building Trust, Value and Engaging Your Followers

There are over a hundred twitter marketers in the world who constantly tweet about their products and services, but sadly only a few have been able to do it the right way and are now enjoying the fruits of their successes.  This is because a lot of marketers who want to use Twitter as their marketing tool tend to rely solely on tweeting ads and self-promotional posts, hoping and expecting that their followers will respond and actually visit their websites to make a purchase.

NO, Twitter and twitter marketing don’t work that way because in the first place, this micro-blogging site was made to communicate and connect people who have personal relationships with one another.  People from all over the world who would like to connect with others, especially celebrities and certain well-known personalities, would do so through Twitter and would actually engage in active conversations with them.

If you want to learn twitter marketing the right way, the first thing you need to do is to remember this particular characteristic of Twitter.  Building relationships by developing trust and friendship, as well as engaging your followers are both more important than having hundreds of followers and tweeting every single moment of the day.

This is much more effective because of two things: first, you are in a network filled with actual people and not just bank accounts and two, these followers have a choice whether to respond to your tweets or not.  If they know that you are a great seller and a fun person to engage in conversations online, they will be willing to visit your online business and actually participate in your promos, activities, etc.  If you just tweet ads and self-promotional posts to people you’ve never actually engaged in conversations with, then you’ll only be tweeting to thin air with absolutely no response from your followers.

Here are some effective tips on how to build trust and engage your followers in Twitter:

  • Tweet about anything and everything under the sun.  Your tweets don’t have to be about your business ALL THE TIME, so take some time off, tweet about the weather, what happened to you, where you went last night, and respond willingly to those who replied to your tweets.
  • Offer giveaway prizes and interesting perks so that your followers will be interested why you’re doing this and will actually participate.
  • Engage your followers by tweeting promos, contests, and other interesting information.  You can include links to images and videos about the events for them to see for themselves.
